Working with animals for the first time, Barry first shot and directed Allan in a short film over five years ago. Right away, Barry knew he was in it for the long haul. Barry spent the next couple of years working with writer Steve Wright to develop the feature story of Allan The Dog, then shot and directed the movie, wrapping in early 2019. Barry also shot and directed the pilot Dumb Bells, and has worked as an editor for several hit shows including The Voice and Shark Tank. Barry is originally from Chicago where he attended Columbia College for TV & Film Production.
Allan was born to be famous and he’s ready to play the title role of the movie, although Allan doesn’t consider himself an actor — he considers himself a magician. “That’s what I do. I create magic because I alter the very nature of reality to the delight of millions, but whatevs. I also love treats, walks, and going #2 in front of people – for real, I actually do like when they watch. So…what is this for again?”
Sam is playing the role of Matt, a charming mechanic in Los Angeles who shares big Hollywood dreams with his talking dog. Sam is an actor with a long list of impressive credits, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, Modern Family, Castle, Madam Secretary, and the feature film Office Uprising. Sam was instantly attracted to the screenplay for Allan The Dog, and immediately connected to the role of Matt. “This character needs a ton of work. But sure, if you can add some humor, depth, and just an overall realness, I could see myself being in a position where I might possibly consider the role at a future time.” And the rest is history!
Alison is playing “Ellie,” the dog walker who is hired to help take care of Allan after he suffers a panic attack while performing stand up comedy. When Matt and Allan both develop crushes on Ellie, a funny but dramatic love triangle forms. Alison is an actress and producer, known for Battleground (Hulu), Con Man (SyFy), Attack of The Show! (G4 Network), and Battlebots (ABC). Alison has appeared on a number of other shows including N.C.I.S., Robot Chicken, Bones, and Reno 911!. Despite her impressive credits, Alison is thrilled to be on board with Allan The Dog. “I did not hate the script. I mean, a paid gig is a paid gig, but absolutely, and I really do mean this…I did not hate the script.”
Playing the role of “Barrick,” Steven Weber is a remarkably talented and experienced actor and has been a TV fixture since the 90’s when he co-starred on NBC’s smash hit Wings. You may also recognize Mr. Weber from Stephen King’s TV movie event The Shining, or his regular appearances on Ballers (HBO), Get Shorty (Epix), and 13 Reasons Why (Netflix). Next year, Steven is returning to primetime NBC in a new show called Indebted with co-star Fran Drescher.
Puppeteering and voicing the role of “Princess Leia,” Gwen started working professionally in musical theatre at the age of 14 and also appeared on TV, including Nickelodeon’s “The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo,” and Tom Hanks’ HBO miniseries “From the Earth to the Moon.” Gwen then moved to New York to begin her career in musical theatre, which includes the roles of Amy March in “Little Women” (Carbonell Award for Best Supporting Actress), Kate Monster/Lucy T. Slut in “Avenue Q,” Belle in “Beauty and the Beast,” and Eponine in “Les Miserables” (Carbonell Award for Best Supporting Actress). On television, Gwen has appeared on “Braddock and Jackson,” “The Thundermans,” and Showtime’s “Kidding” with Jim Carrey.
The writer of Allan The Dog, Steve has been passionate about comedy and movies ever since he was in 6th grade when he produced his first short film Slow Times at Park. After receiving an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from The American Film Institute, Steve wrote and directed the independent film Shock Therapy TV…the Movie! Steve has produced over 200 comedy videos for The YouTubes, and when he’s not trying to be funny, Steve is a Supervising Producer for ABC’s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
Warner Davis is a movie producer who has been involved in production spanning over a decade. Warner has worked for several studios, including MGM, Starz, and Lionsgate. Having forged excellent relationships with other major film studios as well, including Sony Pictures and Universal Studios, Warner decided to form his own Hollywood film production company, and in 2012, Petri Entertainment was founded. Warner’s vast knowledge in the film industry is supplemented by an MBA degree with a primary focus on finance, which he obtained from Cal Lutheran University.
Teaming up with our director Barry Murphy to bring the vision of Allan The Dog to life, Joe ManHwi Han is a South Korea-born, Director of Photography based in Los Angeles, CA. A culmination of his involvement in music, art, and theater throughout his early years led him to dive into the world of cinema. Joe attended Columbia College Chicago, and graduated with a bachelor of arts, concentrating on cinematography.
Our talented, innovative, and creative production designer Madeline O’Brien is seen here posing with her vision and creation of Allan’s dog house. Maddy grew up in furniture stores where she developed a love of interior design, while summer camp made her crafty. She is a graduate of Columbia University in the City of New York, and has worked on countless productions including shorts, music videos, and feature films.
Brad began his journey into composing music when he wrote songs for his high school bands Supergroovalistic and The Lemon Curds. Since those days, Brad has studied music theory and composition in college and continued on to work professionally as an educator and performer. Brad has composed music for branded content and comedic web series. This is Brad’s first feature film and he is more than excited to be part of Allan The Dog.
Our editor Joe McCasland’s career began in TV, working on both scripted and reality/docu-series, including Sequestered, Siberia, South of Nowhere, Startup, Naked and Afraid, Swamp People, and Whale Wars, for which he was nominated for an Emmy. In 2014, Joe began working in feature films, editing Sony Crackle’s Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, starring David Spade, Patrick Warburton and Christopher Walken. This was soon followed by the Charlie Sheen comedy Mad Families and the recently released Drunk Parents, starring Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Joe now makes his home in Los Angeles but remains an avid Sooners fan.
Dan is a multi Emmy award winning audio professional. He likes long walks in the park with his dog Milo, riding his bike, and playing guitar. Occasionally he tries to do these activities at the same time, with varying degrees of success. He once ran over himself with his bike and crushed his guitar. Milo had to resuscitate him. This made Milo a hero and he got his picture in the local paper. After Dan recovered, he worked at a number of notable hotspots in Hollywood including Paramount, Fox and Sony. Dan is always ready to jump on board a project and do his best to make it great.
Young McGah is literally the magician behind the curtain pulling all the strings, or at least hiding them. As our Visual Effects Supervisor, Young has been busy meticulously working frame by frame to make the world of Allan The Dog look as realistic and immersive as possible. After graduating from UCSB with an economics degree and becoming an equities trader at an investment firm, Young did a 180 and switched career paths. She has done graphics work for corporate spots (Kitchen Aid, Breville) and television (America’s Next Top Model, Shahs of Sunset), and has now embarked on her foray into puppetry.
Shane is a Midwest transplant who graduated from LoyolaMarymount University with a Masters in Film Production. He is the Creator and Director ofOneMinueHorror, which aired on Eli Roth’s digital platform CryptTV. Shane has film production experiences with featurefilms that include V/H/S/2, The Last Survivors, The Guest, Faults, and Devil’sCandy. In his spare time, Shane likes toplay leisure yard games and going to the dog park with his girlfriend Ashleyand their darling pup (the best ever) Charlie.
Classically trained in the theater with over 120 plays under his belt, Tomas Boykin has performed professionally in both his hometown of Philadelphia and New York. Tomas has appeared in many TV shows, including How to Get Away with Murder (ABC), and Parenthood (NBC).
Dan is a puppeteer, voice over artist, and actor who has enjoyed working with The Jim Henson Company, Disney, and Nickelodeon. Dan is known for his work on Showtime’s Kidding with Jim Carrey, Splash & Bubbles, and The Happytime Murders.
Playing the lovable mechanic “Stan,” Manny Streetz Guevara, also known in Los Angeles as “Manny on the Streets” or “Manny Streetz,” has co-starred on numerous TV Shows including Nickelodeon’s Sam & Cat with Ariana Grande, ABC’s Mixology, and USA’s Playing House. Manny also co-starred in Deadly Hack for Lifetime, and lends his voice to the animated film Trouble, starring Lucy Hale, Wilmer Valderrama, Damon Wayans Jr., and Betty White. As a Radio/TV Personality, Manny has interviewed some of the hottest celebs in the industry.
Tony is a comedian, writer, actor, and kit kat enthusiast. His feature film credits inculde The Cure of Midnight, American Rescue Squad, and Summer School. He has appeared on The Rookie as a co-star, and a series regular on Madabout TV and the pilot Called to Serve. In Allan The Dog, Tony plays the lovable bartender at Henry’s Comedy Club.
Playing “Henry” in our movie, John was most recently seen on the hit CBS show NCIS. Other recent credits include a guest spot on the Starz! Network show, Survivor’s Remorse, as well as playing a corrupt detective in the feature film, The Lost One. He is perhaps best known for his recurring role as “Stanley Deeks” on ABC’s The Practice. John was nominated for the Best Actor Award at the Midwest Film Festival in Chicago for his role as “Al” in the film, Train Town. He played The Narrator in the film, The Raftman’s Razor, and has performed in over 50 national television commercials. John has extensive theater credits and is currently coached in Los Angeles by Elizabeth Gamza.
Playing “Dr. Williams,” the energetic and empathetic veterinarian who takes care of Allan, Chanel Minnifield has appeared on many TV shows including General Hospital and Jane the Virgin.
Playing the hard-hitting DGN Correspondent “Zoey Spencer,” Tanya Rad was born and raised in Orange County, California, and has always had a love for music and entertainment. She started working for iHeartMedia while in college, and since then, has become an integral part of the syndicated On-Air with Ryan Seacrest morning show. You may also recognize Tayna for her reporting on the red carpet for The Golden Globes!
Playing himself in “Allan The Dog,” Chuey is the host of The Chuey Martinez Show on The El Rey Network. Growing up in East LA, Martinez launched his career at the age of 16 and 9 years later joined L.A’s #1 Hit music station 102.7 KIIS FM while simultaneously being an on-air talent on iHeartRadio, and Sirius XM. Chuey’s resume grew when he was invited to be the LA correspondent for MTV’s affiliate MTV Tr3s in 2007, the first bilingual MTV station. His next venture came in 2012 becoming the host of All You Can Meat on the Travel Channel along with being a regular contributor to ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
Playing “The Judge” in our movie for “The Fuzzy Bunny Bimonthly Contest,” John has been involved in theater for most of his life, with roles that include “The Centurion” in Androcles and The Lion at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, and “Kinesias” in Lysistrata for Town Square Theatre, also in the Hoosier capital. Later, in The Quad Cities, John played “Ocean” from Aristophanes’ play Prometheus, and “Lord Faulkner” in Shakespeare’s Henry VIII. John played “Gonzo” in the independent film Shock Therapy TV…the Movie!, and he is co-champion of the 2015 Dancing with The QC Stars. John is also a practicing neurologist in Des Moines, Iowa, but whatever.
Playing “Jeremy’s Father” in our little movie with a big heart, Beau Bowker is an actor, writer, and stand-up comedian from Manhattan Beach, California. He has written a pilot for Comedy Central with Dakota Pictures, toured the country with comedians Jo Koy and Michael Yo to perform stand-up comedy in front of sold out crowds in clubs and theaters, and trained with The Groundlings in Los Angeles.
Voicing the role of “Ace,” Matt Keene is an actor, improviser, and voice over artist living in Chicago. His credits include Shock Therapy TV…the Movie!, Low Rollers, Brown Soup Thing, and Galaxy Trip, which he also directed. Matt also has deeply mixed feelings after recently becoming a cat person.
